Brainy Nutrition is committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, ethics, and care for all clients, visitors, and individuals interacting with our services.

1. Professional Ethics & Duty of Care

As a Registered Associate Nutritionist (ANutr) registered with the Association for Nutrition (AfN), Bethany Jane Durrant adheres to the AfN Standards of Ethics, Conduct and Performance. We maintain professional boundaries, respect client autonomy, and prioritise client safety at all times.

2. Scope of Service & Age Limits

  • Our 1-on-1 nutrition consultation services are strictly designed for individuals aged 18 and over. If you require or would benefit from the attendance of a loved one, support worker or carer, this will also be accommodated.

  • We do not provide clinical treatment for acute mental health crises, active eating disorders, or diagnosed medical conditions, as these fall outside the scope of practice for an Associate Nutritionist unless working under the direct supervision of a Registered Dietitian or medical professional within a multidisciplinary team.

3. Confidentiality & Safeguarding Exceptions

Client confidentiality is a cornerstone of our practice. However, in line with UK legislation and professional safeguarding duties, confidentiality may be broken in exceptional circumstances:

  • If there is reason to believe that a client, child, or vulnerable adult is at immediate risk of serious harm, abuse, or self-harm.

  • If required by law, court order, or regulatory body.

In these instances, information will only be shared with relevant authorities, emergency services, or the client’s GP, where safe and appropriate to do so.
